The Young Floodplain Managers Brisbane Chapter is delighted to invite you to our first event of 2026. Guest speakers Andrew Thompson (Water Technology) and Rhys Cullen (WRM) will be outlining their extensive experience and insights into the world of flood insurance. The presentation will be followed by light networking drinks. YFM will provide food and drink for the event and would be delighted to host you from 5pm to 9pm at the Vacant Assembly, West End.
About our presenters:
Rhys Cullen is an experienced hydrologist and surface water engineer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. Rhys is an expert in developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for large-scale catchment studies, urban developments and mining projects, as well as water-sensitive urban design, water-quality management and modelling. Rhys has considerable experience in the world of flood insurance, having worked across numerous flood events over the past two decades. Rhys is a Senior Principal Engineer and Director at WRM.
Andrew Thompson is a floodplain manager with extensive experience in the water resources industry across Australia. His core technical skills lie in numerical hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, community consultation, and forensic flood assessments. Andrew has undertaken numerous site-specific property inspections over the past 15 years, accruing a wealth of experience across over a variety of flood events. Andrew is a Principal Scientist and Water Technology’s Group Lead of Queensland Flooding.
