DESCRIPTION:  \nYou are invited to join with our network participants  colleagues to hear\, see and discover what has been encapsulated in the book Water Futures.  We also invite you to share your experience and insights on how these resilience building concepts can be put to use.\nThe visionary book Water Futures offers a collective visual insight into building resilience to water shocks into the design and management of our urban\, regional and rural landscapes and communities in South-East Queensland.  The design charrette workshop that created this Vision brought together 150 professionals who shared and debated what this Vision for a livable and resilient region could be. \nGet your copy here\n  \nThe Book brought to life a visual array of concepts that as a water or related professional you too can use.  The core summary is the Fluvial Transect that depicts the contrasting functions that can build resilience in SEQ.\nYou can read and see  the concept landscapes and measures to achieve\nSponge urbanism\, Sponge suburbia\, Eco-Agriculture\, Bay culture\, Water quality and security and Highland eco-agriculture \nAlso what were the strategies that underpin this approach??  \nIntegrated regional catchments; Protect critical infrastructure; Embrace uncertainty; Multi-scalar fluvial zones; Utilize natural systems \nAlso what do interesting concept phrases mean such as:\nStore-Delay-Recharge-Reuse; Adapt-Embrace; Drought-Flood History; Conserve-transition-constricted \nOk  – would you like to better understand what it implies and suggest where to next with this vision?\n\n  \nAt this interactive forum – “mix of presentations-questions-group activity’-  you will:\n\nHear from the authoring team – James Davidson and Clive Bape – on what they built into this story and the mix of information and images developed.\nHear from the Flood CoP participants who have used the ideas in the book and why they value it\nJudge yourself what you like or find useful and also question and seek more insights on what this might mean\nWork with others to develop options on how the ideas could be further applied in SEQ or other parts of the State\n\nParticipants in the Flood CoP network are keen that the insights from this book are shared more widely and this Forum will build a range of options on how that application might progress and your contribution is sorely welcomed.\nAt the end of the Forum stay on to enjoy meeting with other folk in the Network and enjoy the stunning views across the Brisbane River and surrounds.
