DESCRIPTION:FMA is kindly welcoming any professionals with an interest in Flood Risk management to their biannual Queensland meeting.   The group has a history as a peak advocacy group for flood risk management in local governments and over the years the membership has grown to include various State agencies and Commonwealth agencies such as the Bureau of Meteorology.   \nYou are welcome to join the meeting – at no cost – and hear updates from various groups\, namely:  \n* FMA executive\n* Government Agencies – DILGP\, QRA and BoM\n* Flood Community of Practice\n* National Flood Risk Advisory Group\n* LGAQ\n* Resilient Rivers Initiative in SEQ\n* up coming national Conference  \nDo join the group if you would like to further network with other professionals working in this field.   \nAfter a light lunch stay on if you like for an extended workshop on: \n* Latest Developments in Flood Insurance – from a rep of Insurance Council of Australia\n* New Planning Legislation\, and Compensation Provisions – Susan Mercer Nightingale\, Director Policy and Statutory Planning\, Department of Infrastructure\, Planning and Local Government\, will discuss flood related aspects of Queensland’s new planning legislation. The new Planning Act 2016 will replace the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 on 3 July 2017.
